A network of 46 traditional and picturesque villages is built amphitheatrically in the mountainous areas called Tymphi, Pindos and Mitsikeli (Zagori region). You can admire the rewarding natural landscape or do various outdoor activities. 

The local architecture is defined by the use of natural materials such as stone, wood and slate rock.

The name Zagori originates from the Slavic language and means “beyond the mountains”.

The area thrived economically and intellectually during the Ottoman rule. However, after Ali Pashas’s death (1822) when it lost the benefits it enjoyed, it declined. The 20th century wars had a lot of devastating effects.

Zagori is divided into the Western, Central and Eastern Zagori.
